Friendship

I thought friendship was forever
But for them the rules seemed to bend
They were the first to throw me into the fire
Hurting me seemed to be their only desire
We used to say we'd be together always
Back then we thought we'd never leave, ever.

I thought friendship was special
But they were the first to talk
When my back was turned
Our friendship meant nothing to them
That much I have learned

I thought friendship didn't end
But they turned me away
They made me leave
Since that time I've learned a lot
And now I've realised what real friends are.
